In March of 2019, our group conducted research on Colgate’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report from 2017 and came to the conclusion that the company has a good knowledge of the manner in which its activities affect the environment in which it operates

At the beginning of 2018, Greenpeace International issued a challenge to sixteen different companies, demanding that these companies show their progress toward a more sustainable palm oil supply chain

Greenpeace arrived at the judgment that despite the fact that Colgate-Palmolive was one of the eight firms that had responded to the challenge that they issued, the organization did not meet the criteria necessary to be considered compliant
“Despite the fact that the vast majority of merchants had written regulations that declared ‘no deforestation, no peat, and no exploitation,’ there were substantial problems with the way these policies were being put into effect
”
They explicitly listed “inconsistent standards, questionable enforcement, and non-existent deadlines” as examples of such problems to be concerned about

Concerns have been raised in Brazil over the possibility that the growing demand for beef as a source of food is inducing local farmers to clear away a portion of the Amazon rainforest in order to make room for cattle ranching
This is because there is a limited amount of space in the Amazon rainforest for cattle ranching ”
Because tallow is a by-product of slaughterhouses, the company was docked a half point in the Animal Rights category for using a product that contributes to the suffering of animals
